FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS(FAQ)
How often do you see clients?
I am not a believer in seeing clients every week, or that therapy is
something you do for the rest of your life. The needs of the client dictate the
frequency of our meetings. Clients may be seen more frequently in the beginning of
therapy, and then phased down to less often as the person gets better. It is always
obvious when the client has finished therapy--we have nothing to talk about!
How long is each session?
Sessions are generally 45-50 minutes, and I am not a big clock watcher.
What's the difference between your
credentials, a social worker, a psychologist, etc?
I think the major difference is how we look at the process of change. Some
therapists may look at root cause, or childhood experience, as the reason for a
person's problems. They then try to heal or solve those problems with insight
and change. I tend to look at the person's problem and evaluate those
influences as both factors for the problem as well as factors for the solution.
It is my belief that people are quite resourceful, resilient, and have many
abilities to handle the most painful of problems and situations.
Are your sessions covered by any
insurance companies?
I am a preferred by provider with all the major managed care companies, as
well as EAP(Employee Assistance Programs) and other insurance companies.
What kinds of problems do you work
with?
I have had a great deal of experience working people with addictive
behaviors and family members who are affected by addiction. In addition,
I work with people who have: depression/mood disorders/anxiety disorders.
These are the 4 problems I have seen people make the most changes.
These people are seen in individual/couples or family therapy.
What ages of people do you work
with?
